Cardboard Boat Regatta!!!

So, I came across an article online about cardboard boat racing. And my roommates and I got the crazy idea that it would be a good idea to try it:) We decided to get to work and make boats for our next roommate date night!

To start out, we got some giant cardboard boxes from our friend who works at a furniture store.  We cut out boat shapes and stuck them together with duct tape (for waterproofness) and masking tape (for paintability.) I made a little bench in the middle of mine to reinforce it from collapsing in on the sides.
This was Molly's boat in the cardboard process

After they were fully sealed, we covered them with Kool Seal roofing patch. This rubberized the cardboard to make it more water resistant.

Then, we spray painted them with waterproof spray paint, but mostly it was to make them look beautiful ;)  Didn't Aphrodite turn out pretty!?!?

We took them out on the lake! Some of them did better than others, and I'm happy to report Aphrodite did excellent.

As we shifted our weight around, some of the taped up seams started coming undone, resulting in the inner layers of cardboard getting soggy. But still, she held up pretty well!

This is David and Cait. Unfortunately, they went down! You can see us paddling around in the background:)

It was really a fun adventure, and I'd fully recommend it to anyone who wants to try:)

Afterwards. She was getting pretty soggy!

Camping!

We went up to Hope campground up Provo Canyon and it was amazing!!! I love this spot because it's seriously so close. You do have to pay a small fee, but it's a great campground. It gets pretty crowded, so you'll want to reserve during the on season. They also have firewood up there, which is a plus! Vault toilets, and (sometimes) running water. Just call ahead to ask about the water situation:)

Pre-Fourth Celebrations! :)

I dropped by my family's home for a surprise visit! We were all dressed super patriotically! Didn't even plan it. Also, family #nomakeup day. Also unplanned ;) Happy summer!

Aw...Look how patriotic they are!

The flag kept falling down, so mom was holding it and pretending it was staying by itself.

Too much cuteness for one photo.

My mama's literally the greatest.

Sometimes, you just hug your mom.

Mom made such a cute table cloth and runner for the 4th of July!
Delish!

Rock Canyon

Em and I went hiking up Rock Canyon on Saturday. It was sooooo gorgeous outside!

Just a little shadowy!

On the second bridge up Rock Canyon

We went exploring in this old mine nearby

Wud up, just checking out some stalactites. Oh, wait, those are in caves, this is a mine...

It went back really far!

Did I mention that it was really dark before the camera would flash?

Classic Skating and Sugar Roulette

Had a fun night at Classic Skating and Denny's. We played sugar roulette. Such fun, for those who don't lose!

Mocktails

We went to a mocktail party, which is a cocktail party sans alcohol.:) It was really fun, we were outside for most of the night, which means SUMMER IS COMING!!!

Me, Molly and Em with our pina co-nadas :) Because there's nada alcoholic in them.

Eric's the best.

Birthday Birthday

I had such a great birthday and felt so loved:)  I didn't take many pics, I think that's a testament of a fun birthday! No time for photos!

I made s'mores cupcakes this year, Graham cracker crust, chocolate cake and marshmallow cream frosting. You'll just have to imagine the frosting.

;D

My sweet coworkers got me cupcakes and decorated my desk! They even let me choose where to order our med rep lunch from. :) Zupas, all the way!
Em took me to dinner, Mikayla gave me a beautiful homemade card, Kait and Chris brought me flowers, and a bunch of people came over to celebrate. It was a day well spent.:)
